Dina is originally from Forest Hills in Queens. New York. But she relocated in Dix Hills on Long Island just before she finished her senior year. Her siblings include two younger ones as well as an elder brother. From the age of nine till 16, she started working in the entertainment business via modeling. Ron Stetson was her teacher at The Neighborhood Playhouse where she was studying the acting of Sanford Meisner techniques for three years. The other actors who received such education include Sandra Bullock, Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum, Leslie Nielsen, Diane Keaton, among other people. After moving from Los Angeles, she got her first lead role in Beverly Hills, 90210. After that, she was the role of the main character in the film Johnny Mnemonic, in which she did almost all of her own stunts and established herself as an athlete. Her talent agent also represented Matt LeBlanc so, through her agent she was able get a regular role on Friends.
